I dont want Liverpool to win the title – but I want Everton to beat Manchester City, says Leon Osman on talkSPORT
Leon Osman has told talkSPORT he is backing Everton to beat Manchester City, despite what it means for rivals Liverpools Premier League title bid.Man City travel to Goodison Park on Wednesday night knowing a win would see them overtake Liverpool at the top of the table on goal difference – for the time being, at least.Manchester City are just three points behind Liverpool going into Wednesday’s game against Everton2
Manchester City are just three points behind Liverpool going into Wednesday’s game against Everton
Many Everton fans have therefore suggested they would be happy to lose, as a win or draw against the defending champions would give Liverpool a huge boot in their title pursuit. For under-pressure manager Marco Silva and his players, though, victory will be the only thing on the mind.

MORE:Marco Silva has no interest in affecting title race ahead Everton v Man City

Yet, in the event of a result against City and Liverpool being crowned champions by a slim margin, Evertonians will be left with a sickly feeling of helping their rivals to the title. But Osman insists supporters will get right behind their team once they walk through the Goodison Park gates.Could Everton claim a surprise win over Man City – and help rivals Liverpool in the process?2
Could Everton claim a surprise win over Man City – and help rivals Liverpool in the process?
I think most Evertonians want Everton to win the game, said the former Toffees star on Wednesdays Sports Breakfast.I remember a couple of years back Man City had to come to Goodison and beat us to win the league, but Evertonians were saying theyd rather City take the points and stop Liverpool winning the title. But the moment you get to Goodison Park, you become a supporter again and thats what will end up happening to every one of them Everton fans. You get to ground and you cant help but support your side. The players will be professional and the fans will be right behind the team.I hope its a good game, a good performance and ultimately Everton get the three points because in the race for what is now seventh, Everton are desperate for the points.I certainly dont want Liverpool to win the title, but its not going to come down to this one game, thats for sure. The former midfielder accepts that in hindsight, though, a win over Man City may not be the most popular result in the blue half of MerseysideMarco Silva will be in more trouble if he wins the game from Evertonians, he added. To which co-host David Seaman replied: Exactly, hell get booed off for winning, haha!

Liverpool have barely improved upon their squad from last season. Their manager and his ideals is the reason they lie in second, and our manager is the reason we lie in seventh. None of this cliched verbiage about character and so on.

Griezmann announced he would be leaving Los Colchoneros at the end of the season and Barcelona were immediately installed as frontrunners for his signature. However, Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest in the Frenchman and Atletico deal-makers are looking to get as much money as possible for their talisman.According to French outlet Le 10 Sport, Arsenal have reportedly had an approach from the LaLiga club over a deal for Lacazette. While no formal talks have been opened, the Gunners will be wary of their striker becoming unsettled by the interest, especially as both Barcelona and Atletico can guarantee Champions League football next season. The 27-year-old has become a crucial member of Unai Emery’s squad, notching up 13 goals and eight assists this season to be named the Gunners’ Player of the Year. However, Atletico have also shown interest in PSG marksman Edinson Cavani, which will come as a relief to Emirates deal-makers.Last weekend, Lacazette admitted he was ‘flattered’ with the reports linking him to Barcelona.

I have to wonder how Barcelona would afford Griezmann, and how Atletico would afford Lacazette. Assuming a move for Griezmann did materialise, Atletico are still spectacularly in debt, and one would assume that at least some of the (admittedly massive) Griezmann money would go towards servicing it, not to mention lowering the wage bill.

I’m a Celebrity 2018: Harry Redknapp sings My Way in memorable karaoke performance in the jungle
We’ve seen Harry Redknapp attempt to create his own songs on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, includingPeng ting called Sandra he performed with Fleur East and Malique Thompson-Dwyer.But last night’s episode saw him take on Frank Sinatra’s classicMy Way as the celebs were treated to a night of karaoke in a make-shift pub.

Get the Im A Celeb gossip every day with Jamie Easts brand new behind-the-scenes podcast

Coming from someone who can’t sing and has no musical expertise, I’m not going to make a judgement on how Harry performed, but he rather appropriately did the song his way with his cockney accent breaking through during the performance and these fans certainly gave their opinion on Twitter. If you haven’t seen it then it’s well worth a look.It marked a lovely end to the episode which saw the celebs spend the evening at ‘The Jungle Arms’ – a pub with anI’m a Celeb twist.Harry attempted the floss dance earlier in the series and in last night’s show, he had a go at grinding! It was hard to watch at points but Harry admitted that’s only something for younger people! Below you can see the clip of him ‘grinding’ as the celebs had a ball at the pub. However, Harry’s party was put on hold as the celebs could only get into the pub once they answered a pub quiz style question correctly. He was the last in after getting his answer right at the third time of asking but these setbacks didn’t prevent Harry from cracking out the jokes. The celebs were made to queue to get into The Jungle Arms and while they were standing in line they had all sorts of bugs and jungle critters dropped on them. And when the crickets and beetles were dropped on the celebs, Harry was quick as ever to make a hilarious quip about the situation. The beginning of the series saw Harry tell his camp-mates that his wife Sandra has nicknamed him ‘Mr Pastry’ as he has a way of messing up simple tasks – which include the time how he jet-washed his wife’s plants! And Harry well and truly lived up to his name at the start of last night’s episode when he managed to drop a chopping board down a ditch but his camp-mates saw the funny side and it was retrieved the next morning.Don’t ever change Harry!

Rio Ferdinand is a big fan of Ben Godfrey
He is a pretty emotional player and I like that a lot because it means you are capable of finding another gear. When he played in the holding [midfield] role he was able to drag his team through, but playing at centre-back if we are losing or having a difficult period and he starts to get the red mist we have to calm him down. Now he is able to calm himself down, to focus and control his emotions.Last week, Ferdinand emerged as a frontrunner to become the clubs new director of football. If he does land the role, it could increase Godfreys chances of moving to Old Trafford.Ferdinand, who won six Premier League titles as a player with United, has worked as a TV pundit since retiring in 2015.

Schalke players surround the referee
There was almost a three-minute wait for referee Carlos del Cerro Grande to award Schalke their first penalty of the evening after the ball appeared to hit Nicolas Otamendis arm.Schalke players surrounded the official, who spoke to both clubs captains before awarding the penalty. The wait is believed to have taken so long because VARs pitchside screen was not working.Bentaleb converted the first penalty before scoring a second spot-kick after Fernandinho pulled down Salif Sane in the box.Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand thought Otamendi was harshly penalised by VAR. He told BT Sport: Hes so close to the ball, its difficult to get his arm away. I find it hard to give that penalty. This is the problem with VAR, it takes so long to make a decision. Both Otamendi and Fernandinho were booked for their fouls, which means they will miss the second leg tie at the Etihad.
