Liverpool 1-0 Everton: Reds player ratings as Roberto Firmino struggles but forgotten man Divock Origi gets late late winner
Liverpool kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Everton at Anfield. The Reds’ forgotten man Divock Origi scored the winning goal in the sixth minute of added time in a tense Merseyside derby where both teams missed glorious chances.Origi celebrates as Liverpool snatched victory at the death5

Andre Gomes’ header was brilliantly saved by Alisson Becker before the rebound was just cleared off the line by Joe Gomez.Meanwhile, Xherdan Shaqiri and Sadio Mane fluffed their lines in front of goal either side of half-time.The game appeared destined to finish all-square and Liverpool’s final roll of the dice saw Virgil van Dijk slice the ball high in the air. However, Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford fumbled the ball back in play but dropped the ball in Origi’s path, who nodded the ball home to win the 232nd contest between the two. So an incredible win for Jurgen Klopp’s men but how did they perform? Below you can see talkSPORT.com’s Liverpool player ratings.

Alisson Becker – 8

Made an outstanding save to deny Andre Gomes from point-blank range and also got a crucial touch when Theo Walcott tried to round him. A very good performance.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

The right-back made a good tackle on Richarlison when he was briefly through on goal and Alexander-Arnold was a good option going forward.

Joe Gomez – 7

While Alisson made a great save to deny Gomes the ball was trickling towards the net and the Liverpool defender heroically cleared the danger. Along with Van Dijk, he kept Richarlison at arms length.Gomez did well to contain the threatening Richarlison5

Virgil van Dijk – 5

Van Dijk struggled to get to grips with the game at first but grew into it after a while and had the control of Richarlison.

Andy Robertson – 6

The left-back was a good option going forward but was not enough to help his side to victory. He had a little bit of handbags with Richarlison in the second-half.

Fabinho – 5

The midfielder had some good moments but really struggled to contain Toffees midfielder Gomes who was the best player on the pitch.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 5

Like Fabinho, Wijnaldum had decent moments but Everton’s midfield came out on top at Anfield.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 5

Shaqiri should have scored this chance in the first-half5
Shaqiri should have scored this chance in the first-half
Shaqiri had a good game but missed a glorious chance to give Liverpool the lead on 33 minutes. His right-footed effort hitting Pickford when played through by Salah.

Mohamed Salah – 7

Salah did so much right but was just lacking that cutting edge he had last season. The Egyptian was surprisingly substituted on 75 minutes for Daniel Sturridge considering how badly Firmino was playing.

Sadio Mane – 6

Mane was Liverpool’s most threatening player going forward and should have scored on 52 minutes but put his left-footed effort wide when clean through on goal.

Roberto Firmino – 3

For much of this season, Firmino has been a shadow of his usual self and this was perhaps his worst game of the 2018/19 campaign. He gave the ball away numerous times and couldn’t seem to do anything right.Firmino’s form has been worrying this season5

SUB – Naby Keita – 5

Keita was brought on to give the Reds some energy in midfield but was pretty ineffective generally. Took the ball away from Daniel Sturridge when the striker was lining up a shot.

SUB – Daniel Sturridge – 6

Improved things slightly going forward for Liverpool but it was Origi who would become the hero of the hour.

SUB – Divock Origi – 7

Many Liverpool fans would give him a 10 for his late winner but Origi will have to settle for a 7 from us. He missed a huge chance moments earlier but showed a great striker’s instinct to get the winner to send Anfield into pandemonium.Origi’s goal gave Liverpool the crucial win5
