It has been common practice for Nike and Adidas in recent years to commemorate their main man with bespoke footwear.By winning the prestigious honour, Modric, who finished with 753 points, ended a decade of dominance over the trophy held by both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.Prior to Modric, the last player outside of the two greats to receive it was legendary Brazil and AC Milan player Kaka in 2007.It has been a excellent year for the 33-year-old, who won his third successive Champions League title with Real Madrid in May before playing a starring role as he captained Croatia to the World Cup final this summer, where they were beaten 4-2 by France.3
